Enjoy Life!!, this has been the motto of my life. This blog will be a nice place for me to talk to myself. There is a lot in me that wants to know a lot about me. I guess my collection of daily musings, techy thoughts and philosophical ideas on this blog will catalyze that process.

For the "safety" of your child

" Your kids are everywhere, but you cannot be. To better protect your child from bacteria and germs... use our XYS Spray. Spray it anywhere and get the feeling of a fresh clean home. Safe for your child and yourself. If you love your child and care for his health, XYS Spray is your one stop solution"... And the crap goes on.

It wasn't this way earlier. Kids still used to play everywhere, get dirty and sometimes sick too. But this obsession with the safety of kids is now getting out of hands. Such ads sound so caring and concerned. But little do they talk about "human immunity", "dependence on external products" etc... and to add to it they want to create the feeling of a fresh home...using chemical sprays...gimme a break. Its nothing more then scent to your nose. And who told you that you already dont have a fresh home.

We all have an immune system. And it can get stronger for us only if faces the different organisms which can make us sick. Such products are doing great in creating the illusion of "healthy kids" but are actually working great on making "weaker humans" for the future. To promote the very thinking that your child should never fall sick is the very first step to making him a dependent on the various chemical sprays and cleaners.

I donno about the companies but for others I think I have an advice. Use this when you have already sick people in your home to help them get better or when there is flu etc all around the neighbourhood. But if you make this a part of your daily life, you are working hard to make your kid weak.

I don't agree with you completely. Take a different perspective. Its not the dependence on the chemicals or the scent but the dependence on such fancy ads to make us believe that only those sprays can protect our kids. Definitely such chemical sprays make us allergic and dependent, but it also helps to keep hygiene and control the morbidity and mortality in recent years as compared to the earlier times. Kids donot change...it is we who change the environment. Given that US homes have carpeted homes, the importance of such sprays sometimes is inevitable. Controlled use of these should be the aim.

I agree with you here. With "advances" in our living style, we tend to get lesser immune and I have felt this when I have been to remote areas, villages, mountains. The conditions they live in are much worse than ours. Still they are much healthy than us. Reasons according to me are :

1. Increase of population in our cities.
2. Our tendancy to be "safe" and "safer" from probable attacks

First of all I want to know .. what internal force forced you to write this ... !!

Hmm words with full of "Krood".

Ads are like that only, the best way of marketing is to play with the sentiments of the target end-user.

@sujata: your perspective as a pharmacist obviously sheds more light on the topic for a common man like me. I am gald we agree on "Controlled use of these should be the aim" as I pointed it out in my last paragraph.

@nishit: ya the idealogy to be safe and safer day by day is what the companies use to play with your minds.

@vaibhav: well i guess i was tired of watching such ads and hence the blog. but ya you are right... thats how marketing is done...cheap marketing!!
